About us and our creative process …

If perfection is your jive then look elsewhere. These one-of-a-kind jeans are flawed to perfection!

Some of these iconic Levi’s ® and Wrangler ® jeans are vintage and we guarantee ALL have had a previous life. They have been well-worn and loved. And then, after several good, long washings, we manually craft them.

The same goes for the leather garments used for patterning and embellishing. They have also been worn and loved!  And we save scraps of everything we cut, as we know eventually an idea will present itself and these bits and pieces will also have a new life.

Did you know that when you purchase an item used, rather than new, it’s carbon footprint is reduced by approximately 82%?

Upcycling is our jive.

Human hands and a manual, hand cranked cobbler sewing machine are used during crafting these goods. The mechanics of the cobbler machine are based on a turn of the century Singer sewing machine. This machine allows for the entire length of the jean to be sewn onto, unlike with common electric sewing machines. With electric sewing machines, one has the use of two hands to guide the fabric through the machine.  With the cobbler machine, one hand is used for cranking and the other to guide the material through the machine.  No easy task even for a master!

Merriam Webster defines handmade as “an item made by hand or by a hand process”. The term handmade was first used in the early seventeenth century … and because humans are not machines, handmade products may feature inconsistencies or slight flaws. These are signs that the product wasn't mass produced in a factory.

There are many words to describe the process of altering and creating these jeans: handcrafted, handmade, hand-altered, and hand-assembled. These words imply that the base products are not constructed from scratch, and that we have added our own twist to the product.

When you wear a pair of our jeans you can feel good about

… choosing an alternative to fast fashion,

… shopping sustainably,

… and supporting a cottage industry, woman-owned small business.

We’ve figured out a new way for you to love the old!
